Viborg Animation Festival
Denmark’s largest animation festival. The festival is dedicated to celebrating the incredible world of animation and bringing outstanding films and creativity to Viborg.
We are driven by our passion for animation and a mission to create a unique cultural experience. This means world-class entertainment, joy, and inspiration through the magic of moving images.

About VAF and Sustainability
Our commitment to sustainability is fundamental to our work, and we integrate the UN Sustainable Development Goals to create a festival that is responsible and inclusive.

Goal 5
- Diversity among guests, speakers, audience, and volunteers to ensure equality and an open and inclusive environment.
VAF is part of the festival collaboration “Keep Festive.” The initiative aims to address and provide tools to handle discriminatory behavior at animation festivals, such as racism or sexism. Currently, 14 animation festivals from around the world are represented.
Goal 12
- There is a focus on recycling, ecology, and CO2 emissions in collaboration with the festival’s partners.
- All printed materials are printed on FSC-certified paper and cardboard.
- Meals are served in sustainable packaging and, where possible, sourced from local suppliers.
- The meals are vegetarian (with the option to add meat), and a large portion is organic.
- We encourage guests to walk or cycle between hotels and our various events. Viborg is a small city, and almost all events are within short distance.”

Partnerships for the Goals
- The collaboration with Nordisk Film Cinemas under Egmont’s CSR policy promotes sustainable film screenings.
- All guests stay at Hotel Peak12, which is Green Key certified.
